About The Club:
The martial arts club is designed to introduce students to the world of martial arts. With over 25 years of experience in the field, I have studied many different styles, from boxing, wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Muay Thai to more traditional arts like Kajukenbo and Eskrima. The goal is not to study one discipline in particular, but to explore many. Although I have fought professionally, the goal is not to teach students how to fight, but simply how to protect and express themselves. We do not use ourselves to master the martial arts, we use the martial arts to master ourselves.
In the younger grades, classes will be focused primarily on self-defense and discipline. Students will learn basic blocks, strikes, and kicks in order to better defend themselves. The highest goal of self-defense is to walk away from bad situations, but if we are ever forced to defend ourselves, we must have basic knowledge in order to survive.
In the older grades, we will start with the basics, however, there will be more opportunities to explore. If the class begins to gravitate towards boxing, we can explore those concepts deeper. If they are interested in defense against weapons, we can veer the class in that direction as well. Regardless of the direction, all classes will start with a basic understandings of the martial arts so that they can better express themselves in any medium.

“To me, the extraordinary aspect of the martial arts lies in its simplicity. The easy way is also the right way, and martial arts is nothing at all special; the closer to the true way of martial arts, the less wastage of expression there is.” - Bruce Lee
